Goodman provides flexible warehousing solution for Nabuurs in the Netherlands

Thursday, 04 June 2015

Goodman, a global leader in the ownership, development and management of industrial real estate, has signed a lease agreement for third party logistics provider Nabuurs at Goodman’s logistics centre in Wijchen, near Nijmegen. Nabuurs will operate the 45,000 sqm warehouse for multiple customers.

Nabuurs will use the facility to provide logistics services to Heinz and other customers in the food sector. Since being founded in 1962, the family-owned business, one of the largest in the Netherlands, has strong experience in the food and FMCG sectors. By scaling its operations with multiple customers and using multi-modal transportation options, including the nearby canal, the logistics service provider will be able to optimise operational and transportation costs.

“Goodman has proven to be a responsive and flexible business partner, which has enabled us to provide the best service to our customers. Furthermore, the adaptations being made to the facility illustrate Goodman’s sound sector expertise and we appreciate their  commitment to maintaining the building to a high market standard,” said Ard Nabuurs, Commercial Director, Nabuurs.

The facility has approximately 41,000 sqm of warehouse space, including 700 sqm of office space. To respond to specific storage requirements, Goodman will install night ventilation in the facility. Over the course of the lease, Goodman also plans to make several upgrades to the roof and the heating and cooling systems in order to improve the quality and functionality of the property. This is part of Goodman’s unique property management approach, which includes tailored-made investment plans for each of its managed properties.

“Goodman is able to provide unique solutions for our customers due to our operational scale and flexibility,” explained Tia van Beek, Goodman Country Director for the Netherlands. “The Netherlands is an intensely competitive market and we have achieved nearly 100% occupancy in large part because of our customer-focused approach.”
