Goodman Group, the real estate group that owns, develops and manages logistics real estate worldwide, announces it has signed a new contract with Tegelgroep Nederland BV.
Tegelgroep is the leader in the market for wall and floor tiles and part of the French Saint-Gobain group. It will consolidate three warehouses in one location to create efficiencies and room for product growth. This consolidation strategy has led to the development of a new grade A distribution centre to optimise Tegelgroep’s distribution process to its customers throughout the Netherlands. The new logistics centre is strategically located in Bemmel, in the middle of the Arnhem / Nijmegen region, with excellent road connectivity and multiple transportation options. The building will be constructed according to the BREEAM Very Good design principle to guarantee high sustainability standards, in line with Goodman's long-term strategy.
Frank van der Weide, operations director at Tegelgroep Nederland BV: "All our products are currently spread over three warehouses, which causes various logistical challenges. By consolidating everything in one distribution centre, we can serve our customers better and more professionally and we can realise savings through lower transport costs. We are very happy with Goodman as a partner for the development of our new logistics centre and look forward to our collaboration.’’
Lien Standaert, Country Manager Netherlands at Goodman said "Customers around the world are looking to create more efficiencies in their supply chains. Through strong collaboration with Tegelgroep and the municipality of Lingewaard, we will design and build a sustainable, modern property, providing Tegelgroup with a long-term solution that will add significant value to their supply chain."
Goodman starts construction of the distribution centre this month with experienced contractor VDR Bouwgroep. The new development is located in the Pannenhuis II industrial zone in Bemmel. This is strategically located 2km from the A15, and the completion of the planned connection between the A15 and A12 motorways which will connect Rotterdam with Germany. In addition to the excellent road connections, the location offers fast access to the Nijmegen barge terminal and train connections to the German Ruhr area and the Arnhem - Nijmegen cycle highway.
Councilor Helga Witjes of the municipality of Lingewaard praised the project saying "We are very pleased with the cooperation with all other parties involved in this process; Goodman and Tegelgroep Nederland BV. The choice of Tegelgroep to establish their new distribution centre in Bemmel confirms the excellent opportunities for logistics players in Bemmel. This distribution centre will create more employment opportunities in the area.’’
The new 21,000 square metre building will be an ultra-modern warehouse space at 12.20m height and extra loading capacity to store the wide range of tile products from Tegelgroep.
Goodman was advised on the transaction by Colliers International and the municipality of Lingewaard by DK real estate agent and BenW are the architects.
